Hello, while coaching my son, I am belaying several hours per week. Due to this, I developed an epicondylitis radialis (tennis elbow) left. Has anyone else experience with this? We always talk about injuries from climbing and training but not from belaying. Reinhard
Ive had the same issue. Its mainly bad for me when Im belaying someone on a project and I need to pay out slack quickly so I use a jerky motion. It only really affects my left arm. Maybe using a different device sometimes would change the motion slightly, and focus on paying out the slack smoothly. Also, pushups, dips, reverse wrist curls, etc could help.

Akos try putting à rubber band over your fingers as resistance when you spred them to train your extensors

Hi Björn nice meeting you in Imst (I was the German anaesthesiologist). Thanks to your advice, symptoms improved markedly. In addition, I changed my belaying technique (I use Smart): I keep both hands strictly in prone position wich also helped improving the symptoms. No pain even after 4 hours of belaying. Reinhard
