DESCRIPTION
30 Jan 2021
The area encompasses all sandstone formations in the wider vicinity of Göttingen. Its not limited to Lower Saxony since a lot of blocs fall within the northern part of Thuringia and some can even be found in Hesse (even some limestone). The sandstone can be quite brittle in some places. It's very important that people clean their shoes before they step on rock and never boulder when the rock is wet, since wet sandstone breaks much more easily! Even overhangs and roofs can be wet after a lot of rain because the moisture seeps in from above! If holds feel wet or are you are in doubt immediately stop bouldering, accept that outdoor bouldering cannot be completely controlled and if you act irresponsibly you could ruin mega classic problems forever!!

ACCESS
30 Jan 2021
Access is a big issue and very delicate. In lower saxony almost all relevant blocs are banned. In Thuringia a lot of blocs are situated in ecologically sensitive areas and also a lot of local people are apprehensive about bouldering. Because of this (and many other reasons) I would like to ask anyone to refrain from creating topos on thecrag, 27crags etc. Please also do not share GPS locations of blocs. The exception to this is the bouldering area next to Thalwenden (Wiesental and Fünf-Finger-Tal). Topos can be found in the guidebook "Blocreich Thüringen".
