What do you like the most in your climbing life?I like the friendships developed and the support of others in the close knit climbing community. Climbers are a happy bunch of people, full of energy and incredibly positive. That positive atmosphere is contagious and permeates throughout the rest of my life and into the surrounding world. A life of climbing is a life well spent!

What is a memorable story in your climbing life?Surviving an ascent of the Cassin Ridge on Denali in June of 1990. Weathered 5 days of 60+ mph winds and sub-zero(F) temps at the 17,800' level. Reached the summit on 6/9/90 after 3-days NO food. Rescued two ailing Japanese climbers while descending the W. Buttress in yet another storm! Lost two friends a day ahead of us on the Cassin. Mike and Stewart fell from about the 19,000' level 1/2 way down the S. Face of Denali. Bodies are still there? Standing on that summit after all the effort was truly memorable. A brief parting of the clouds gave us a momentary glimpse of the world around us and it was magnificent.
