Striking World Cup stats

Here are some of the most amazing World Cup stats from Heiko Wilhelm's Beyond the Face. 1. Kilian Fischhuber has won 21 Boulder World Cups during a 16 year career which can be compared with the #4 in the ranking who has won five. In between, Sharafutdinov with 12 and Meyer with 11 wins. No other athlete has dominated the scene for so many years as much as Kili. Overall he has earned 5 406 points which can be compared with runner-up Sharafutdinov's 3 088. 2. Also Anna Stöhr has won 21 Boulder WC's followed by Levet and Noguchi at 17 and the fourth in the ranking has six victories. In 2013, she won seven out of eight events and in the remaining she was #2. 3. Sandrine Levet has been on the podium 51 times and she has won 17 times in bouldering and five times in Lead. No other athlete in the history of competition climbing has been among the very best in both disciplines. On the contrary, very few athletes have in fact won in both Lead and Bouldering. 4. Ramon Julian Puigblanque has 6 400 point in Lead over 14 years and the runner up is Mrazek with 3 875. 5. Angela Eiter has #25 WC wins meaning that she is #1 in this category. During only eleven seasons she received 5 009 points. In 2005, she won eight out of nine events and in the remaining she was #2. 6. Alexandre Chabot competed only seven seasons but even so, he is #1 in Lead wins with 21 victories. In total, he stood 30 times at the podium out of which at the top, in 70 %. 7. Muriel Sarkany competed 19 seasons and she has most points in Lead, 5 890, meaning she is #2 after Ramonet. 8. In the beginning of the competition era, France dominated but now Austria has taken over and the Asians are on the run. At the bottom of the country list, among the big climbing nations, is GBR which is not listed once. It should be noted that the stats can be said to be a bit biased not favoring guys like Francois Legrand and Robyn Erbesfiled-Raboutou as there were much less comps during the 90-ies. For the younger generation, probably Jain Kim and Jakob Schubert will be ranked as #1 in many categories, and possibly also Akiyo Noguchi and Adam Ondra, if they just continue some few more years.
