8B+ by Toby Saxton - 193 cm/93 kg

Toby Saxton has done his second 8B+, Entlinge in Murgtal which was set up by Fred Nicole in 2005 as an 8C. What makes Toby's ascent special is that he is 193 cm, 93 kg and 35 years old, giving hope for all the big boys out there. Toby started climbing when he was 3 and finished when he was 16, due to both middle fingers broken. After a ten year break, where he competed in freestyle kayaking around the globe, he started again and in 2008 he did his first 8A. So do you do any special training to compensate your size and what are the reason for your great progress? I am a big fan of the rings and yoga but really I just like to climb outside and train inside when the weather is bad. I try to work on my weaknesses as much as possible. The last 2 years I have taken the summer of to travel to Africa. With the mild winters, training hard putting in the hours, with every day off spent cleaning or night sessions, just to try and get the best conditions, eventually paying off. Every year I find my self getting stronger. On the picture the bouldering giant does Second Life 8A+ (B)
