I thought it would be interesting to analyse the distribution of climbers over different climbing grades (indoors, toprope/lead). It would also be interesting to see how the distribution differs between gyms, countries, physical characteristics, experience, age, etc.. Once there is enough data, I will summarize various statistics and post it here. Please select a grade in the poll below and then (if you have the energy) make a post (or comment in polldaddy if you would like to be anonymous) stating the following: Sex: Age: Height: Weight: Months of active climbing (at least twice a month): (Roughly) Hours climbing per week on average in this period (regardless of climbing setting or style): Highest grade bottom to top without "cheating", at least 10 climbs: Highest grade bottom to top without "cheating", at least 1 climb: Highest grade flash, at least 10 climbs: Highest grade flash, at least 1 climb: Highest grade on-sight, at least 10 climbs: Highest grade on-sight, at least 1 climb: Main gym of achieved grades: Main country of achieved grades: The grades should be on the french scale, and for toprope or lead
indoors. If you are not sure of the grades on this scale, use a
conversion chart like this one:
Grading scales
Flash: "To successfully and cleanly complete a climbing route on the first attempt after having received beta of some form." On-sight: "A clean ascent, with no prior practice or beta ."
