There are more activities than ever at Sheffields Cliffhanger Festival - UKs biggest outdoor event for outdoor people.
As well as the British Bouldering Championships in the big top
marquee, the new Graves Park venue will be packed with have-a-go
activities and daredevil demos - everything from climbing to caving,
biking to bushcraft as well as fairground rides and fell-running.
With free entry for accompanied children under 16 and the majority
of activities free its a great value, family friendly weekend to
inspire and entertain you.
NEW FOR 2013:
- Advance ticket sales. As well as buying on the gate on the day
you can save time by buying in advance from Sheffield Arena Ticket Shop
for both Cliffhanger entry and car parking.
- New venue. Weve moved from Millhouses to the 200 acre Graves Park - Sheffields largest open space.
- Mountain Bike Cross-Country Eliminator. Mountain bikings newest
discipline. Itll feature a high octane Eliminator event on Saturday
morning with top riders racing against each other in a series of
knock-out rounds. Then you can have a go and pit yourself against the
scoreboard.
- Mountain Bike Dual Slalom. The 100m long downhill slalom course
will be open to all to ride all weekend. You will be able to lay down
your best time on Saturday to try and qualify for the race later in the
afternoon. The rest of the time the course will be open to the public.
- Cycle Speedway. No brakes, no gears, no fear! Can you be fastest
round the track? Sheffield Stars Cycle Speedway Club will be putting on
displays of their fast, action packed track racing and offering taster
sessions.
- Orienteering Park Course. South Yorkshire Orienteers Cliffhanger
Ultrasprint is always so popular that this year theyll have a timed
course visiting the rest of Graves Park. Visit as many points in the
allowed time and see where you end up on the leader board. To spice it
up try the mass start event on Saturday at 11am or take it at your own
pace whenever youre ready during the rest of the weekend.
- 5 and 10k Trail Races - Starting at 11am on Sunday you begin with a
lap of the arena before winding your way through the parkland and
woods.
- Weston Wine Bar. An exciting addition to Cliffhanger for 2013.
Weston Wine Bar exploded onto the scene last year at the 2012 Tramlines
music festival with its hugely popular bar providing soft drinks to a
large selection of wines, lagers, ciders and real ales on tap from local
Sheffield breweries (yes on tap, in the middle of a field!). Image credit: Alex Messenger
