The Zlagboard competition suggests that finger strength are most important

The diagram shows the result of 864 male on the 2 cm ledge on the Zlagboard. The results suggest that the Zlagboard is a very good tool for measuring how good climber you are as the best results were made by three very famous climbers: Ramon Julian Puigblanque, Alex Megos and Stefano Ghisolfi. In a period when we are talking that also complementary training for the upper body and legs are important, it is interesting to see how much better finger strength the top athletes had. Most likely, if we would have done any other physical test of the strength for the arms, shoulders, abdomen or the legs, the three top athletes would not have been superior. This of course suggest that prior to you can hang at least 100 seconds, for a male, on a 2 cm ledge, other strengths are not so important to train specifically.
