Lead World Championship report

In an almost full arena, and with the audience completely zealous, the Czech climber Adam Ondra went up to the top step of the World Championship podium. It was obvious that he was super happy, not for nothing, with this new title he became the 2014 World Championship winner both in lead and bouldering disciplines. Despite of the nice impression that Ramón Julián caused in the semi-finals, the final was a whole different story. The Spaniard had some tense moments and was at his limit at half height, although he was able to recover in the upper section resting in most of the holds by where the rest of the athletes passed through the best way they could. Unfortunately, with just 3 holds to the TOP and still quite ‘calmed’ his heel slipped falling exactly at the same hold where Ondra fell before, the difference being that the Catalonian didn’t take his hand out. The bronze was for the Japanese, Sachi Amma, the strongest among the rest of ‘mortals’. Not as much can be said about the females. The Korean Jain Kim didn’t give any chance to her rivals. Easily, elegantly, calmed, clipping the chain and captivating the audience when she reached the ground visibly touched. Everything she did was perfect. Mina Markovik looked strong too, but in the upper section traverse on the big volume she made a wrong foot placement and everything was finished for her. Exactly where Magdalena Rock fell off, the draw being untied by two more holds the Slovenian reached in the semi-final. Pic@ Ignacio Sandoval Burón.
