staying in shape

what exercises would i do in order to keep in climbing  shape , while not bulking up and losing flexibility, like low weight hi rep, or hi wieght low rep?what muscle groups and what actual exercises, i have absolutely no rock climbing equipment( hang board, campus board) , we got a lot of free weights and i would only be able to go climbing once a month indoors at best(unless i get a climbing buddy with rope) any help would be greatly apreciated!!!
Well you might want to get at least a hang board there cheap and they mount anywhere. Not to mention the gains from hang board workouts are huge if done right. Free weights can be helpful when mixed in with climbing workouts but they should never be the corner stone in training for climbing. Bottom line get a hang board and you will be able to work on your climbing specific lock off strength and your finger strength all at the same time. Another great exercise is running. Just becoming a better athlete will help your climbing! The hang board will help your power and the running will help your endurance, it doesn’t get any better then that!! Good luck!!
Without knowing your whole situation, if the reason you only go indoors once a month is lack of climbing partners just go and boulder instead. Other than that as Jake said get a hang board cheap, compact and highly efficient. Weights wise do med reps med weight and do bent over rows and use a chin up bar. Also do some chest work eg flys bench press and military press for the shoulders. That is really basic. If you want a good overview get to a climbing shop and get one of the many good books on climbing training.
