Extreme grade progress the last year

During the last 12 months, the grade progress by the community is comparable which was achieved for at least any previous 5-year period the last 20 years. Until last year, the normal selection for making 8a news was 8b for female and 8c+ for male but today, we mainly present 8c and 9a ascents. When it comes to what the kids do, the progress the last 12 months, is even more dramatic. Adam Ondra was like two redpoint grades ahead of the others some six years ago but today he would just barely been #1. The best possible explanation for all this great progress are probably that great gyms pop up everywhere, video beta and the increased social media interaction in the community making us mentally stronger when we see others can do it. If this trend continues, we will in five years have hundred of boys doing 9a and girls doing 8c and maybe 1/3 of them will be teenagers. The climbing future has never looked more interesting and promising!
