Jerry Moffat in the 8a (historical) yearbook

"I had trained like an animal for it, put everything I had into it, and at the end just managed to claw my way further up the wall than Jibe Tribout to win the comp. On the way out, Jibe stopped me in the corridor. He didn’t look me in the eyes, because he is a very proud Frenchman, but he said:
“It is true, Jerry. For the moment, you are the best.”
He walked on. I felt as though I had just been crowned."

Full story in the 8a yearbook and also Alex Huber, Lynn Hill, Fred Nicole and Lynn Hill. Pre-order in the webshop

Scorecard and ranking WARNING!

8a has since the very beginning always stated that Climbing is about Adrenalin, Beauty and Community etc. Sometimes some can add grades and points and even a ranking to increase motivation and the fun in climbing. In the yearbook, we have published warning signs similar to what you see on cigarett boxes, "points may kill the fun in climbing"

Here are some other quotes from the yearbook that might come as a surprice to you :-) "Remember, climbing is foremost about the climbing experience and not grades or points." "The 8a ranking is ridiculous..."

8a success at the ISPO trade show

During the first day at ISPO, 8a have secured the finances for the 8a yearbook, having had 28 meetings :-) In fact, the interest from the market was bigger compared to the first three years and this was because we presented a dummy of the 100 crags European road trip. We will actually for the first time ever cover more than the cost of printing and distribution etc, giving out some 3 - 5 Euro per working hour to the 8a team :-) We will present a list the with all sponsors contributing once we have made all deals.

Climbing shoes for Euro 24

Climbing is in the mid range when it comes to prices on equipment. Because of safety, shoes (and IKEA rope bags for Euro 1) are the only article where you can find a very low budget alternative.
